Step Into Mick’s Office — Moorhead’s Last Great Dive Bar
Right in the heart of downtown Moorhead, you’ll find a local legend that’s been serving up cold drinks, killer burgers, and good vibes since the '60s. Welcome to Mick’s Office — the city’s true, old-school dive bar where the beer is cheap, the grill’s always hot, and the stories just keep getting better.
It all started back in the mid-sixties with Jerry Mickley, who opened what would become a neighborhood staple. Mick’s moved to its current spot in 1971 when the Moorhead Center Mall opened — and while the scenery has changed, the soul of the place hasn’t. The bar came full circle when the daughters of Ruth & Tim Palmer (who bought it from Jerry in '83) recently took the reins with a plan to breathe new life into the classic.
Here’s a fun fact: they’re still cooking burgers on the original 1963 flattop grill. That’s right — the same one that's been flipping patties for generations. It’s more than a grill; it’s a piece of Moorhead history.
So what makes Mick’s Office stand out? Simple. It’s the last of its kind. While other spots have come and gone, Mick’s remains — proudly divey, totally unpretentious, and full of heart. Whether you’re a regular or a first-timer, you’re walking into a bar that feels like home.
Craving a burger? Don’t miss their classics — the Gert Burger, the 56560, the 8th Street, or the crowd-favorite Bruce Lee. And for beer lovers: Mick’s is the only place in the FM area pouring both Old Style and Hamms on tap.
You’ll find Mick’s at the crossroads of Highway 75 and Highway 10 — easy to get to, hard to leave.
Swing by, grab a drink, and soak in a true slice of Moorhead culture. And don’t forget: if you’ve got a voucher, just hand it to the bartender when you order — then sit back, relax, and enjoy the good times.
