Rookery Rock Winery produces wine in small batches that feature the unique flavors of the region. Their signature wine, Glacier Gold, is produced from North Dakota yellow chokecherries. Yellow (Gold) chokecherry is a natural sport of red chokecherry with a more citrus flavor. Yellow Chokecherry wine, a unique wine that Rookery Rock was the first commercial winery to produce. Their grape varieties include Frontenacs, Marquette and Petite Pearl. Some wines to try include Red Loon, Glacier Gold, and Black Currant.
Rookery Rock Winery opened their tasting facility in June of 2018. The name of the winery expresses the owners love of collecting toy penguins, beginning when his grandfather bought him his first plush toy at the age of 5. Penguins are born in Rookery that is ususally made of rocks, thus the name of the winery. As an event center, Rookery Rock Winery can host reunions, receptions, corporate events and birthday parties.
Rookery Rock Winery is located off the I-94 Absaraka exit (Exit 322), just 1/2 mile north. Agassiz Shores Orchard takes its name because it is beach land on what once was the ancient Lake Agassiz. Stop by with a friend to redeem your voucher soon!
